Running through
I'm about a 50k a week runner. Over the last several weeks I've been struggling with some heel pain. It's probably something like a bursitis as it is in that area and the pain is more of a burning sensation than sharp pain. All this to say, I'm a typical runner thinking that this will pass.
This is of course is a complete lie of course but it's part of running culture. So here's the plan:
- Ice
- Pain meds
- Stretching
- Reduced load
Why am I being so stupid you ask? Well a couple of reasons, I have a scheduled race with my daughter that I don't want to miss. Second, I have some up coming surgery that will prevent me from running for up to 3 months. The first reason is enough to carry on for the next 2 weeks and then the race will be over, but the surgery isn't for another 70 some days which I might put up as much as 400k in that time. And yet that's what I want to do...
I'm stupid runner...
